Live Music
Bring the acoustic guitars, a tambourine, a bongo drum and if you can't play an instrument, simply bring your voice. Singing and playing music around a picnic is great, whether you're a family, group of friends or even on a date (nice opportunity to serenade your partner).
App Games
It's never been easier to play charades with your friends, especially as you can now get an app on your phone. A popular choice is Heads Up or the free version, charades.
Pie-Eating ContestLine them up on your picnic blankets/tables and have your participants clasp their own hands behind their backs. These pies must be eaten in the messiest way! You could also work in teams of two to make things faster. Have one chow down the pies while the other takes care of the mess and the handling of the pies. Be clear on your rules, however, eliminate people from cheating by "smooshing". This is when a player makes their pie look like it's been eaten by smooshing it onto their faces and the table.
ReadingFor those who are looking for a bit of me time, take a good book and catch up on your spring time reading. This National Picnic Week can be an opportunity to escape from all those worries and troubles and dive into your favourite or new found novel.
FRISBEEJust because you're having a picnic doesn't mean your bum should be glued to the blanket. Get up and play a good old fashioned game of frisbee. This can be played in groups of 2 or more and is suitable for all ages.
